Set Up Web Hosting
) K( V `$ `- ^Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said
$ V) x+ y; W1 q5 z" C( t1 U1 wabout internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared; x+ _% u, ?1 ` i( F6 Q; J
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with- n! J+ F6 M5 t9 c2 ~
whoever else is on the same server as you.( L* G: Q0 J3 g% f( ~' e
Speed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast
$ l2 K: ^0 h3 F1 F, venough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3$ U4 R: x6 K. U9 w3 ^" O9 W
seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
) v7 [8 r" X) j: o1 [& rTo explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
1 }% Z8 i% }6 m2 M* [house full of roommates (hosting customers).
6 j( \7 G- @5 l$ h' S# I% K. BIn shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside

}) x0 N) j7 _' h; U8 q2 Etheir food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of. T# e( o1 T/ K z: Y" [
If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
: v3 L. J" N3 f4 `, U, @% uany type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.6 E# h3 T y6 o3 y. Z$ `& }7 N
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space- v9 U) ]' b$ F$ @8 \# k( F4 s! E, p
inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is" e+ L9 j6 d- T8 r- x4 P0 w
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.9 e7 d; B, s0 Y, v# m% W
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources
3 ?9 f) v% }; f# T1 |* k& [# G+ hbelong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more; {% z. f) a. A

: ?5 Z7 ?! }) s* n9 n; |5 JAt the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.
