Set Up Web Hosting/ H3 h' z1 N3 h* f( W% R% T$ W
Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said
; c" o! S' Y! o/ q1 Mabout internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared
/ L) A# [+ n- {0 W: t. s5 m6 r! whost for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with! V# G( c; b. w+ f% f, Y1 q0 g) a
whoever else is on the same server as you.
: T' z7 v- r7 XSpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast1 b/ F9 e% n# _ Y! o9 d' \1 F6 Y6 H
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3% W9 W3 K7 ^; D5 Y/ I4 d; x
seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
" P" \4 `; ?! E9 o- E# ]To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
z8 M$ n7 U' t6 D/ L# k- thouse full of roommates (hosting customers).
% ~/ c0 F! [& o+ N! i7 |In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside2 {5 g+ U2 h6 f
the fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will

6 z3 \6 f$ l! ]$ ASay your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than
6 W2 {2 b- s! C- pthe rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate
2 S O0 v+ q* s6 C7 @their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
) Z' l$ c+ B. X$ B/ B7 GIf you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
5 ?! [9 j: }5 \8 vany type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
# {' X2 x# [1 O8 I4 yIn the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
: r$ {2 ^+ N# f9 j- ginside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is" u- ]* w$ z# ~# }# B
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.
' C5 V! I% ^: x9 d+ d6 \! Z# zA dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources8 r2 L7 @$ a5 H3 e
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more" F+ v7 a; o; b) Z9 Z; u
traffic, faster.
/ ?4 B3 P" e/ k6 dAt the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.2 e# D$ `, T/ h5 R( j9 t0 N3 i" }
