Set Up Web Hosting2 P5 p& I& [1 H7 \, G( v
Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said
9 u0 x# \% v$ _about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared
$ _9 s# v6 K( q1 {/ U3 O6 bhost for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with
$ \& G# ]* H- o; p, `7 qwhoever else is on the same server as you.
+ {- p; @5 y% r- i+ j% @ B; FSpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast8 d0 e5 V8 E; e8 E& [6 u: l! A
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
6 d- F8 r: V0 V/ y) eseconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.& g i( y: R7 D3 h2 h( h7 u
To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a8 E! A& e8 A8 e- q6 `$ z
house full of roommates (hosting customers).! k) t. ^4 ]$ v9 \
In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside5 w* l; {5 h, G2 u3 F9 C
the fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will# X. O% E: q, K6 _2 r
fit.' O$ R. k9 m; c0 @0 ?# ~
Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than0 M$ J9 a/ h% l+ j' K9 _
the rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate
6 q: @3 g* l% H O& R$ C: Xtheir food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.4 H6 T0 f; R$ L
If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
* f: ~2 H+ [) K/ m6 z' ?" w/ N" uany type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
& S* C4 a& q2 J# ^In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
6 Y) ^# P5 \* D0 g; ?, Dinside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is. H5 Z. N( z/ L9 u4 E# w5 `0 q
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.1 F! L0 n% j( M' y# q
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources
7 ?* [% m6 a7 \7 ]) j; r0 ubelong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more
* |3 U! t' Z( n7 j+ w7 Ntraffic, faster.
- g2 }. B8 E4 A/ N; `4 c2 ~At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.
