; n, r$ J" o0 z# r4 KGetting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said7 n+ ^# u$ t, U! V2 E9 n) O
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared/ P& x/ [: |7 }+ N! `' D, C8 g

To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a! q0 W% U% v8 I
house full of roommates (hosting customers).
1 \$ m) l" P" h+ F9 |, {8 z3 v& `- hIn shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside7 N# z! n; L% G: F7 l& h3 O

Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than

their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.( ] h$ F$ v0 t& E1 y5 [* }. p' e
If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For5 Q% Q+ O) c) G5 `
any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
7 u# |, O" v O$ n; ^ _- \% f( v5 sIn the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space( x/ i3 ^) m9 m- V' W0 u! }, M: i0 i

partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.: G3 a5 i" D" x9 \) f
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources: ?0 k! h( K7 g | {
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more; g% H( _1 p5 g' Z2 L+ ?
traffic, faster.2 e. N5 u$ |3 N" [5 w: `
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.
