Set Up Web Hosting& {; Y. Q$ o+ Y* }# p
Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said$ f5 `) n2 n' @
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared
) D$ P) ?- _& x$ H/ G3 V8 y$ Q0 Mhost for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with
7 H8 l, x+ p D6 ?whoever else is on the same server as you.
9 g! @1 H9 g# a$ A( ySpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast4 m3 i9 n" ?( W% B
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3" @; n J, @$ a" ^5 X# N6 h
seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.- @& z; d2 }$ C. R$ n
To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
7 u% |: h/ q; X$ w6 r4 ]# S- D. Mhouse full of roommates (hosting customers)./ Z; P8 d0 e y1 {
In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside
2 h. L. @' f9 \+ K; dthe fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will
' ~6 P. `: y5 v3 yfit.
! H2 g5 Q5 Y" n' q; B: jSay your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than) Q" ^* ~, E+ [- p
the rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate- {- X) ~+ T# z- R5 z& H) Q0 j
their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
5 {0 i' D+ {" S' |- UIf you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For! p5 K5 Y& o8 s
any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.6 u( z: V) H6 |& p( k9 q
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
9 J5 A8 n% x2 Q" @- Xinside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is
. v$ W; K2 @* ~! A+ Ppartitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.
4 Y+ W/ x. f. X9 YA dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources
% C4 |; e2 X) V( c5 O3 q9 Ebelong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more0 ], t0 B' c2 s1 k3 M
traffic, faster.
+ Z/ s+ m n: B* ]0 Z7 GAt the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.
