Set Up Web Hosting& @# R. i# G8 V" A
Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said, Y; O4 e s4 @" I& [
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared
% Q: L, A6 f, V3 ]2 X |host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with
. k8 q: Z' f. |2 z4 p. J3 n) Hwhoever else is on the same server as you.1 R8 Z7 J& ~ f5 s1 f P/ D
Speed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast; a+ b/ i8 A3 {( M) \
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
2 z6 y( f+ x2 \, Q: \seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.4 ]3 W0 M/ y1 O8 {7 ?
To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
" ^4 m9 k- y* E* Z$ ~3 e8 Qhouse full of roommates (hosting customers).
! B. v" W9 Q9 E2 j+ h' kIn shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside( J/ Y c6 W' R4 w

Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than1 {( s. K6 w! ~7 {* D$ \0 K
the rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate7 F" e* u% c) X# R
their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
8 g" H# ~2 H" P8 g+ ~If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For( d0 i- Q. G# z, P2 @( s1 A# d
any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.3 J+ Y+ F% ]# n9 p" G
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space: C. ^3 M E. z' a* O
inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is" g, H. X& `$ E9 T( ? k
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.9 ]$ y& g( S m- U& r- S; y
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources
/ \! \/ r4 k" \& g! E- X }' dbelong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more
5 _% A5 k1 k9 T% G0 q. ]traffic, faster.
$ y8 f/ X* L3 g& aAt the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.) `% `- v7 z$ e0 a5 l
