Set Up Web Hosting
+ [, H+ c+ }. d) ?Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said
' k/ p$ R, W5 B' \- f) d4 Jabout internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared
5 Q# d0 Z l) P( m' R) ?host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with- g: ]# c* f; [1 d
whoever else is on the same server as you.
8 B! ?' a3 n$ a9 BSpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast5 y* N# u" m7 l2 O0 ^
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
9 r& {. X% r. |* R: p: J7 Zseconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.! X2 O! K |, e* R# Q7 n5 e
To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
# `) r2 A7 h. q, }house full of roommates (hosting customers).4 t5 r X8 G& v* B Y% {
In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside* H. j; m2 n& v: D
the fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will; H, n5 |7 A! w% a6 m* Q' T/ I2 d

% H4 e, J5 B5 x7 D# dSay your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than) A5 [9 ]" h4 _
the rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate
* G( s- {- d, }; _" N% M: mtheir food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.$ P$ y+ S# N0 `4 O8 c
If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For, p0 m4 i9 u2 B2 y! w( i& y5 U9 q
any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.! I% v& J4 Y" q! D
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
1 x8 O/ B+ w' }8 U! qinside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is
3 G8 |- M% I% x% F8 v4 epartitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.: c, C6 e; M* \+ `( ]
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources- p" r+ u; N# L8 l& Z: k
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more) H3 f3 l$ e5 A1 N3 F' M
traffic, faster.# h0 h% q9 L9 v$ K9 L! { Q3 O
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.
