Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said
& w$ e' Y2 h1 e' E @5 K( vabout internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared
; N. i- n: ], t N9 ]8 M. ^6 Rhost for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with9 g' j* w3 d+ J8 A+ r1 v
whoever else is on the same server as you.
! B$ o0 l8 j: @- ySpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast3 i0 {$ N9 n& X% q% {
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
6 t, U7 C. K1 f: \# u+ Mseconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
2 X- N" X, O7 o! Y# `: LTo explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
' X' {6 V8 l4 G4 K! f7 Bhouse full of roommates (hosting customers).
- r2 R- V3 L$ C& q4 o6 O- z( rIn shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside0 K. V: j1 x& o0 L* c: T
the fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will
3 ]# c& k0 [; r4 ]1 e9 B8 _fit.
( J1 ?# Z t9 }Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than
+ _/ X z4 _3 D# N( Lthe rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate
. {) g# W1 P% E/ p0 {+ {# g5 atheir food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
+ Q! O9 f% p% |8 o5 jIf you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For( B0 w* j- Y( y2 r
any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.: P% k8 R7 C$ ?( E: X; ^
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
B# ~8 e t8 j% `( u5 T2 D- x, d, \! `inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is/ w0 k/ v; s8 J) t
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.* W5 j* ?, F0 v% K
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources7 {7 u/ e! g9 Z/ p! U6 d* ]
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more
# \# h" j7 e% W8 A o' \* Htraffic, faster.7 _( B& d1 U9 ]* p( `, n. p+ [! q
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.

Once you buy your hosting it's time to also buy a domain name and get it on your hosting. This is' r ]8 P6 u, r/ q: }7 L M
where you're going to host your tracking software and your landing pages if you decide to make them.; {, [2 X! z1 m3 T
Oftentimes people wonder if they should have a specific domain name or a generic one. One generic,3 u3 P6 T- V: }. u9 G
