Set Up Web Hosting- ~. ]! s2 X( i( g
Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said
0 c* Q h1 Q- p* `! W; `* ^about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared
, x$ _) g: _. a8 p8 \host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with7 p+ P- O5 Y$ Y" A! T, [( h) T
whoever else is on the same server as you.' A, ~5 ^- ?7 g; V) Y
Speed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast. |& f& k/ P" ~0 L6 T9 ?
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 39 m0 t3 n+ M# b( @) k
seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
6 C4 R4 K$ M' e W% e; Q fTo explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a3 W) |: O8 p# S$ l' J+ B/ g6 r
house full of roommates (hosting customers).0 A5 @1 r# M! ~3 n
In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside. l5 j. v! A' ]% |8 A
the fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will6 _9 @3 K. h6 z* k! b8 K
fit.8 m5 w) ~6 e+ F8 C7 a4 Q
Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than
1 ~/ U0 h+ Z, ]0 l* ?: y$ D) g: J, ithe rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate
1 @) @) c/ m3 Ntheir food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
2 h, E6 ^1 m; ^ K) T4 N z' bIf you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
/ ^ h! t5 `$ J, c; s0 K8 pany type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
9 A$ G3 w1 O* G) x/ @) q9 ?In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space, h& r+ C4 z8 i1 Q
inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is8 H; p) V- F' q& X
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.9 `" g( T$ h2 J- z% z5 y6 w
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources" i) C0 G% _( Z1 L0 Q6 \4 G
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more+ I( y3 m- C5 E A* s' L [
traffic, faster.9 j( C# R& [, P0 W0 Z7 s4 ?
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.
