Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said8 s* |: `( b; A6 N5 O% V, Z( f! e
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared% L3 z( N; e. y( O! q" V- E
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with
* h. k: t( h# _1 S0 G# X+ jwhoever else is on the same server as you.* e! L& j* a f9 d2 q: j+ j
Speed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast) @/ _+ f3 p9 R( {7 E
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 35 _- Y. q. ]8 G9 Y3 P
seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
. M4 f" z( R6 ZTo explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
& R# g; X- }7 T1 h( I- Phouse full of roommates (hosting customers).
8 }( e6 V* K2 b- Z/ L9 bIn shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside

fit.* D! y* H1 g% y( Z; i0 v4 F' X; x. u
Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than; z7 m6 ~/ Y. ?* i: z" n
the rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate
6 B3 q, k0 k/ h! a% ptheir food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
+ X" V Z8 d, h$ rIf you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
9 h+ i, s0 Y1 Z; {( Pany type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
4 `5 \% k1 o) `9 C0 O3 B) BIn the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
( l4 R( o& U* t! m: G& {inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is
5 ^7 `$ @8 O6 \% A0 Upartitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time." V6 B' c2 A& n5 j l/ C
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources0 @9 f* n; `7 c- o6 m7 F
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more' j* ?- I) h, o* ^
traffic, faster.$ I7 I; N; m' G
