Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said
# o, V7 q; M* L7 U( Wabout internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared7 R- m S$ X, ~* E8 ^0 t8 G
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with: ^7 |. [0 J% B* l) {/ o9 E5 A& P
whoever else is on the same server as you.
) B8 ~9 I/ ?9 M$ vSpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast
2 s0 G" b9 S1 s* Uenough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3* \, k* o1 v5 b5 k1 U
seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.9 m: ^$ A$ c- }& C; Z' N7 m8 U) a
To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a Q# T. k% G6 x$ P5 h. R. d$ j N
house full of roommates (hosting customers).2 k& \" L2 O) s U
In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside

' Y7 M8 e9 T9 S; g+ r2 eSay your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than; N9 W: T8 a- _. N+ j: }; r
the rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate* X o8 _6 t( M+ ~* r6 e
their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.) I& f( I4 W9 a) Q
If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For( b# J& q" L& }+ ?
any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
" t6 R9 Z4 G9 M: Y8 ZIn the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space2 Q4 j. r0 |5 p$ i; Q. v1 L1 s# [; O
inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is
: N6 x2 S7 x. H& f# K$ Dpartitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.
6 s0 k( f3 p4 F- s8 g, `A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources- u n) J4 V% U2 V& [1 A% F
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more
8 [3 }2 T1 u# J \! p7 Ptraffic, faster.
; c. q6 |- X b/ OAt the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.

Oftentimes people wonder if they should have a specific domain name or a generic one. One generic, ]3 Y6 g- y/ G1 @
