Set Up Web Hosting
: w4 o& S6 G% l* G' p$ ]Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said
! h5 ]( Q$ |6 v/ W5 g# b: T, Tabout internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared0 B) `. e8 ~- `: T. Y B
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with# R. g7 c: p2 J& G L! @
whoever else is on the same server as you.
1 t! q \% h: \' _, bSpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast
5 ]' A3 W3 O0 `9 \5 jenough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3, S5 [, R4 c! H% M5 {/ Z
seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
: |6 I4 b: j+ UTo explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a1 N( x6 |6 I5 R, D Y4 |
house full of roommates (hosting customers).
* S4 c' g R F: f+ b: hIn shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside
, `% l6 G( h2 t# }6 h6 }5 athe fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will
8 k) n8 G5 h5 @fit.
( b# f' l5 \$ TSay your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than1 ~$ `1 Y* `; |$ A
the rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate
5 j4 K' K# w! f6 H& w7 \& A |! q- C/ P/ }their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.5 n/ ^7 d6 Z* v! o. s+ \
If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For1 a. a! g- o3 t, R
any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
4 A; c ]. h# c8 H# iIn the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space( l/ B M- k c( x1 p
inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is& ^- z% H/ G( d. J6 U
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.
; `' o* E* |8 m3 G8 P! oA dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources
; O+ q9 |. F, K& ebelong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more
$ ?" {. S/ ^$ ]* R; Mtraffic, faster.1 a" [4 M5 V8 ?4 F9 U
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.* O& b0 q, F( J7 G q

Oftentimes people wonder if they should have a specific domain name or a generic one. One generic,
