Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said/ q8 h3 F1 w1 N3 V
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared
( Y3 t& y7 O- l1 M- d- Q! Whost for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with
1 g. M o- ~ o3 x: ?& nwhoever else is on the same server as you.
& W. a2 P3 {( n* D, u. P( E8 YSpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast

2 ]2 b& f; k$ z% j4 l4 i, Eseconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
: L5 [& h0 W; [5 {+ D+ F6 w- uTo explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a; R0 J* ~9 A9 t* r
house full of roommates (hosting customers).% f; U. n; R6 y7 p8 ?
In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside4 B/ S/ ?8 P# w- G3 h
the fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will
0 Z; F$ d$ D1 xfit.
" n1 J: P. Z {. X7 XSay your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than
# y Q" W7 S: a9 `8 ]$ othe rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate1 @1 o) q s% C; v, O& A( N( R
their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
7 K+ k2 |2 U8 \" E. r- eIf you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
6 d! i0 r/ j+ \5 \* F' Dany type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.; d3 b7 G8 o, v3 K! D
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space/ i/ ~+ g4 r* w) u' ?
inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is+ M; N1 X& A0 S2 {7 x3 H; p
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.9 R& Y6 u- v( ^) S8 ~ z
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources- K& e: e8 B, {" g/ f
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more0 J3 O/ Q; }& h
traffic, faster.- U6 l0 f' ?3 j. l! y. H1 H
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.1 H% O, [$ D& X9 [& J8 v( `' W

Once you buy your hosting it's time to also buy a domain name and get it on your hosting. This is. Z5 X3 S) @& ~+ t; k3 L
where you're going to host your tracking software and your landing pages if you decide to make them.
9 Y! w. p( U$ Z* s5 ?5 t6 ~6 GOftentimes people wonder if they should have a specific domain name or a generic one. One generic,
