Set Up Web Hosting3 C$ P1 k% b( R/ n
Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said
7 i9 ^! H$ x2 z. Q1 j m4 ?9 Babout internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared- p; `) Q0 W. y* Z
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with
8 G# G. w W# ?1 @whoever else is on the same server as you.
F* i& {, k, \0 y2 uSpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast
4 A. t+ K4 X7 z, \enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 36 {, Y3 g/ R1 F9 \* Y0 `% g
seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.% Z$ g2 f) `# F% h: g) c# H
To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
d( L7 g: Q1 R( b& K1 Zhouse full of roommates (hosting customers).
) F. U6 d0 Z& G& fIn shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside% F& o1 z2 p# S3 S
the fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will/ V7 d* }! N# c' D7 {
fit., ?) ?" j3 m0 [
Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than
; X, L# I, ~& f7 S- uthe rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate
$ o* g, M7 K% W, j3 U' l2 j0 Jtheir food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
2 ^& }4 v3 f' n: g. _0 jIf you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For. w! e; f9 e4 a2 y, u$ Z! H( j
any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.8 E! l% m* G+ j0 A! e5 O
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
& @5 m, i! h4 h" J5 B% ^2 t: minside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is4 L5 S$ I7 y' T" A
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.
, t( I8 D, m; Q1 T4 F2 }+ \: JA dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources( v; h, q1 C" g" ~
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more0 C; x5 {" M$ B( a ]
traffic, faster.& `1 Y8 x3 e6 m! [! B+ [4 H( h. ~
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.4 i |4 u6 {4 \3 G/ R
