Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said4 B5 u$ g, q2 J* j$ n4 v' ^* d5 U: F
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared
3 C0 D- u6 R) z1 j9 x0 M- @& e6 l3 Ohost for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with
|; v3 E( ]3 |/ Swhoever else is on the same server as you.6 i1 \9 y+ @% H) r' ]
Speed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast. _' d) @5 k0 O+ h
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
0 o# d, x4 C" lseconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
5 l9 Q( X$ n7 K. m7 C% \To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a! u( e$ ]! e8 l( b+ l4 B
house full of roommates (hosting customers).
1 ^( l0 H4 u) D) B1 Q4 C' uIn shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside: r2 x' X0 b# D6 {+ c7 b7 x) \

their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
* H ~5 }; m( ?( t$ Y. M7 vIf you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
7 |, x0 I. x) X: s% Uany type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
+ y0 x( J, v2 i9 ^# ~) XIn the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
1 K) J5 R; o9 @# m7 i/ A3 m0 y( Z- Ninside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is/ R1 d9 M' D: l
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.
6 t* m3 U; [% _. h0 L8 ?A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources2 ^" [" w1 L5 |) L! o2 k# _
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more
& j0 ]$ _+ M& S. V* H. W8 |, l+ Ttraffic, faster.5 I! B& B' r( @1 g+ k+ n
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.# n3 D# i% F5 h/ G; P) [' \9 `+ a
