Set Up Web Hosting
: `* m. _1 c" s" E2 j& K) qGetting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said# k8 a1 t% C2 ?( O
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared# O- d! Y) t/ y+ M N* w
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with, P) b7 C& a) v1 B
whoever else is on the same server as you.. z" O, K& Z; h
Speed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast) [" m X9 I6 L9 D/ ] s2 F2 n. m
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
5 E; [* |) ?) j* Lseconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
0 z$ b" \3 m3 u3 QTo explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a0 `7 e$ s3 ^- A' Z5 K2 V( s& Q
house full of roommates (hosting customers).
# _# z0 v, a' I) U5 e$ c9 bIn shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside4 \- L8 t$ |# ~4 }; l$ |: H) {) h
the fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will
, T4 w. L, O( M& l4 N& D+ D; ^fit.
/ X4 _5 I* N" n' |& y5 HSay your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than2 E4 O& y! F! Y) ^* `8 `
the rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate" q8 f9 J4 R& N8 p
their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of., g5 n1 l2 E% e" |7 }4 u
If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
6 E6 H% V0 O/ [3 J/ wany type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
* E3 F1 W2 y% z0 y k5 k# O" xIn the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space( ?# Q# {- Q& C; \: O
inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is
& I3 c4 B4 w/ v# H2 \' \, i" Spartitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.$ N U4 U2 a0 i; X0 L& C& l0 P
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources. ?0 u5 [* ^5 [! \1 G* J" w+ |
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more2 ^- w: C0 I5 L7 I
traffic, faster.# }- l# o4 `4 A% p$ Z( U" K
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.' q7 K; l: E! j% C7 w7 O& M

Oftentimes people wonder if they should have a specific domain name or a generic one. One generic,
