you'll wake up to millions of dollars overnight. For anyone who has ACTUALLY done affiliate marketing% p2 a8 {9 @+ O, }, g% d2 i- K
with any success, these claims are laughable and far from the truth.
* p/ o. ?4 J4 B2 v0 W9 aAffiliate marketing is simply a business, like any other. There are customers, sales, suppliers and cash
: \+ n: g0 Y" X7 E0 O- Gflow management. The main benefits are the low barrier to entry compared to other businesses, and

started building PPV campaigns right away from start to finish. With that said, time to jump in and get

! y% B2 |) U1 oAffiliate Marketing- is an internet-based marketing practice in which a business pays one or more: A/ {6 l) j0 T0 X6 a% S9 s; h
affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate's marketing efforts. The two main; ~$ T# t& Y( a2 R7 F

3 t+ k; L% x; B! r0 GCost per sale (CPS) network- Every time an affiliate sends a visitor who buys a product, the affiliate1 ^3 U% [2 f. q. B
receives a commission on that product. An example would be the Amazon.com Associates program,
5 ^, h( z5 D5 H3 \* H8 _, e8 cComission Junction or Clickbank.$ M; f& b0 _0 @' ?! e6 c' p
Cost per action (CPA) network- The affiliate earns a commission by sending a visitor who completes! A6 |* d8 `0 ?9 [4 L" u
an action like filling out a form, submitting their email address, signing up for a service or sometimes, r0 `" ~% Z ^* ^" l7 j+ V
buying a product. An example would be Ads4Dough or Neverblue.
9 l6 \% Y8 r1 b; e6 OAffiliate Manager- an affiliate's contact at a CPA affiliate network who is responsible for the affiliate's, x. u! l/ `7 M! Q5 _: V
account, getting the affiliate approved for offers, bumping payouts and just about everything else4 n8 y6 F0 H J! j$ c
related to an affiliate's account at the network. Having a good relationship with your affiliate manager
* m3 H) A0 `! }& ]! E( ~right from the start can really help you.
4 M2 R1 p& ?) L2 K+ fPPV- means pay-per-view, and is also called CPV (cost-per-view). This type of internet traffic is served
9 f& M& V& L0 A: j! Win pop-up form through downloadable software on the visitor's computer. The advertiser pays per9 b' y; s' K! }
view, starting anywhere from .01 or .015.
1 F8 Y( b6 m+ \) W+ e1 PIn order to use this type of internet traffic, the affiliate can sign up with a number of different

MediaTraffic, and AdOn Network.

No. Popups are served in a new browser window as if the visitor had opened the new window

6 G0 S( p. h( I, o2 S& @# }The number of popups served varies depending on the PPV network. Some pop more frequently

Isn't this type of software bad? Why would anyone keep it on their computer?
* p i, {; \8 lNo, this type of software doesn't harm the user's computer.
/ E" f5 k. I8 j! m. i9 F7 kCompanies that specialize in this type of traffic offer their visitor an incentive like screensavers, games,0 t$ `) T" v2 M2 w4 F8 H/ v
toolbars or videos to place the software on their computer. The visitor keeps the software in place so

1 k2 v: N* J. x' k6 T5 }% S. vIn order to start marketing offers, it will be necessary to join one or more CPA networks. A good place
) c4 P/ V* ]# E$ y# k# x( Zto start looking for networks is Offervault which lists offers and lets you compare payouts across$ p. K$ q; W7 z! {1 w& Q" [% H+ z
different networks.3 j) ^! E5 [) t
Once you find a network that you want to join, fill out the affiliate (sometimes called publisher)0 q0 h' n2 }; f2 m
application and be as specific as possible about your promotion methods. Usually some time after% S5 N1 S7 h8 j) U( C4 G1 g+ i f
receiving your application, the company will call to interview you. The phone interview is a critical) b/ G5 _: @0 a$ F* S
part of the application process, and most networks will deny your application outright if they can't get. a. x$ n( X4 @
you on the phone.
$ E1 o+ m9 w" j) `- N% ~' DOften, the person who does your phone interview will actually become your affiliate manager after2 p/ k" p! }- ?! x8 F
you get accepted, so it's a good time to put your best food forward.
6 i# x1 n& C; B5 z$ F. S5 O4 g4 CYou might not relish at the idea of someone grilling you about your internet marketing methods over& a/ L0 w" ?/ G; x1 F P

What methods do you use to market offers?

To meet people from various networks, sometimes it can be effective to go to conferences like Affiliate- C i8 Y3 l% x
Summit, or AdTech and make sure that you talk to people. Also, lots of affiliate managers and network% \# q. J& s6 I) ?0 _

After You Join a CPA Network
$ y$ O3 z9 J7 }3 ~Once you're a member of a CPA Network, it's a really good idea to reach out to your affiliate manager
" ~( e. M4 L8 h7 o: F/ r6 gand make an attempt to get to know them a little bit.
% W1 r, ~1 J8 D k3 NFrankly, there are great affiliate managers and horrible ones, and a good one can be worth their
6 ?; c& o d' M/ y, Eweight in gold. Start feeling them out from the start and try to get to know them. Once you get

Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said$ ?6 \1 y! I9 o4 a5 [. H
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared) I+ W6 ~. [1 N; Z& e( B2 j
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with3 p% t7 S7 b9 `- Q; P0 \. K" Z; ?, X' g
whoever else is on the same server as you.
, b8 m6 }$ B& u( P2 PSpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast6 n3 E! f# N1 } b
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3- T4 D# g9 a7 r2 E8 x# H
seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
5 W4 y! ?5 d( STo explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a" J3 X" ~: G9 ?1 l' V" f9 o, W, B7 K
house full of roommates (hosting customers).
8 G7 g9 R9 t& tIn shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside
9 J5 b7 ?$ _3 k, q6 ithe fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will
6 p! T/ ]! r/ Z( h- p- W1 |9 Mfit.( M$ R" k D, g# T, D" m2 U, P0 i
Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than5 M/ b* C4 J1 Q% Z
the rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate5 E; z7 Z& |1 z
their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.- q) ~+ M% j1 ]4 u! E: Z$ N, ^) P
If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For9 |3 g0 W( q# d
any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.' v! S3 ]( b+ m2 W/ y" }! e
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
# k. I7 c. o* a% {) I' ?! Yinside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is( T7 O2 B- X5 P2 [1 y6 F; C" ~
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time." \+ U* V( f) W7 M
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources
$ M; [5 i) Z. O) w! Jbelong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more
4 v# z! D1 Q0 [# o& l5 G2 o1 ntraffic, faster.
! D, [" w. x8 J3 N1 KAt the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.# U5 H% ^ j2 a' b- F

Oftentimes people wonder if they should have a specific domain name or a generic one. One generic,
# l: B, N: ?) M( T! ?bland one is fine to start with, to host both your landing pages and tracking software. The .com,
d( R# Z6 U- r.net, .org extension doesn't really matter, this isn't a domain we're going to try to use to SEO rank for a

After you buy hosting, a domain and get those all attached to each other, the next step is to install, O0 W. }6 c, C6 P/ Q. W% [: E8 c
tracking software on your domain. This is really important, because it is necessary to track your: t! _& @% r' [
conversions down to keyword level so that you can optimize your campaigns. Without proper. r' d0 h% S: {! _) q* J2 _; ~

To do this, first set up either Prosper202 or CPV Lab on your hosting account. Setting up the software

Tracking 202 is the hosted version of Prosper202. You can create a free account and then build your

If you choose this option, keep in mind that your tracking software, one of the most important parts of

When you choose an offer, always make sure that it accepts PPV traffic, usually this is listed on the first

First, I log into Ads4Dough and click on Campaigns, then Email/Zip submits.

track my keywords. Without doing this, it isn't possible to see what's converting.

In CPV Lab, your pixel is located under the screen where you input a new campaign, toward the

Make sure that Image is selected under 'Choose a pixel type', name your pixel and now paste the URL
