Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said# T1 O5 r& c K% @
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared6 g, I3 b4 w" {( R, |6 k
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with
1 D" M+ |5 h- H+ x$ jwhoever else is on the same server as you.& @3 _( N7 r# E6 u* \( p( N
Speed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast- w& y/ Z/ A5 ]/ ?; C% q2 Z) `' H
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
9 A, N0 g1 f2 X, N7 Useconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.. E; E, g/ W$ {7 U
To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
, f; f* D. ?3 Fhouse full of roommates (hosting customers).; e0 j3 T# L3 A; B! Z2 Q, K
In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside
* E5 a: D, I3 `/ Kthe fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will
* d( ` a( y* t7 b% o3 Z7 h5 f- Vfit.# q8 b4 G# X: M. A9 B

8 p: K% U/ m# t/ x7 H5 q/ c5 |their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.* G- v5 \1 Y0 _. Y
If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
! e E$ o" o' B1 s \any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
0 M# U1 r L% p, x0 CIn the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
% X. u# m0 R' w1 n* P5 Einside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is3 Z, m1 y" T* m
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.
$ q. w' A$ v6 S; LA dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources

' ?" d: O. ^0 Qtraffic, faster.* c" O+ @, [: E8 L& |7 I; j- h% i5 f
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.; Q" A# p9 |+ o
